Video-art Investigation and Documentation Center

Conditions for the participation in the Video-art Investigation and Documentation Center

The Video-art Investigation and Documentation Center was born out of the need to gather, protect, organize, catalogue, promulgate and exhibit the audiovisual production connected to video-art and experimentation. The VIDC will make use of all its resources in order to meet these goals.

There are three platforms comprised in the VIDC:

Online Archive

In the “La Neomudéjar” website, there is a specific tab devoted to de VIDC, including artists’ information and a preview of what users will find at “La Hojalatería”.

La Hojalatería

La Hojalatería is the physical space devoted to the VIDC. It comprises a library containing books on video-art as well as the physical archive of all the videos, dossiers, catalogues and resources offered by the artists.

Mobile Digital Archive

This is a portable digital archive that includes all the artists’ work and documentation on video-art gathered by the VIDC. The aim of this archive is to be able to move around the contents of the physical archive to any course, festival and fair of which the VIDC is a participant as well as facilitating the cession and rental of the materials.

The VIDC seeks to create a complete archive comprising all the works by the artists involved in the center. As previously stated, the VIDC is a documentation center that aims at safeguarding the whole of the video-artists patrimony – not only those pieces already produced but also any future creation.

In light of this, the present call for submissions is open to artists from all over the world, individuals and collectives alike. The compositions can deal with any topic and cover any genre, and each participant can submit as many videos as they want, as long as they are original.

Participating in the VIDC can be done in three different ways:

–       Sending it via the following website: *

–       Sending it physically to “La Neomudéjar de Atocha” (the VIDC headquarters)

–       Presenting it personally at the same center.

La Neomudéjar

* In the registration form of the Movibeta platform, participants must add a minimum of two stills of their submitted work, which can be used for the festival promotions and any of its activities.

Registration forms must be completed through the following website.

The organization reserves the rights to exhibit the selected works in as many public shows as they see fit. The artists will cede the rights for the public and private exhibition at the VIDC as long as there is an exhibition, researchers, courses or activities under the name of the VIDC. The artists will be notified of all the projections.

The artists, directors or producers of the works will provide the necessary material for the elaboration of the VIDC catalogue and program. When submitting the registration form, the artists, producers and directors who are members of the VIDC authorize the use of one or several fragments of their videos in case they are ever needed as informative material in any form of media. The organization will contact the artists, directors or producers of the videos in order to specify the materials required.

Please note that videos must have either of the following formats: .mov, .mpeg4, .avi or .flv. and make use of the PAL system. Images should be submitted in high resolution, namely: 300dpi, 18bits, in .jpg or .pdf format.
